Neil Fogarty Research

Neil Fogarty is an organisational behavioural economist and posthuman philosopher whose work sits at the point where board governance, social architecture and hybrid human-AI systems meet. He is the founder of Neil Fogarty Research, an advisory focused on pricing culture as capital and redesigning modern enterprises for Resonance rather than mechanistic control.

Books, research and thesis

Neil is the author of The Philosophy of Resonance and The Resonant Organisation, which together set out a posthuman organisational philosophy for a world of hybrid intelligence. His peer‑reviewed work includes “From Symptoms to Systems: The Six Dissonant Beacons as an Architectural Diagnostic for Organisational Dysfunction” and “From Labyrinth to Resonance: A Theoretical Framework for Leadership Development”, both of which underpin the Organisational Behavioural Economics model and the Shadow Ledger for valuing trust, psychological health, ethics, morale and innovation as balance‑sheet assets.

Practice with boards and complex systems

Over 25 years, Neil has advised leaders across UK central government, regulated industries, multinationals and sovereign programmes, focusing on how policies, incentives, metrics and informal networks combine to create either Dissonance or Resonance. His portfolio includes multi-year programmes for the UK Department of Health including Independent Sector Treatment Centres, the resultant Central Contract Management Unit, and also Care Services Efficiency Delivery. He also managed the relationship and advised the architects of the Department of Transport's Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation and various commercial projects within the Ministry of Justice. Outside of the UK, Neil advised on and designed the proposed $2.3bn entrepreneurship initiative for one million Nigerians under the Niger Delta Amnesty Programme.

Applied philosophy in high-stakes contexts

Neil’s practice is grounded in critical theory, systems thinking and applied psychology, but tested in politically charged, high-stakes environments where ethical thresholds and real human risk are present. He has walked away from significant commercial and sovereign opportunities where safety or integrity were compromised, and is known for bringing a calm, evidence-based challenge into boardrooms while holding a clear moral line.

Hybrid intelligence and AI

As co-founder of the psychology AI venture Gyral, Neil has worked at the frontier of applying behavioural science and linguistics to AI systems, including the development of an AI psychological health companion and large-scale psycholinguistic assessment tools. His current work focuses on how boards design enterprises for hybrid intelligence: using AI to amplify, rather than erode, human judgment, ethical discernment and adaptive capacity.

Public work and roles

Neil has delivered speeches, executive sessions and advisory work across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the Americas, and has served as visiting faculty at ESLSCA Business School and other corporate business schools. He has appeared on business television in Ghana and the Caribbean, contributed to Richard Branson’s Virgin blog, written for regional business media, and served on academic and corporate advisory boards, consistently arguing that social architecture is not an HR issue but a core fiduciary concern for boards and investors.
