“There are many things that management development programmes ‘miss’. An effective management development programme has to be relevant to the business, something that can be (and is) practically applied and gives it time to embed.” (source: Eskil ‘Supporting The Management’ survey, 2018)
In a piece of 2018 research carried out by Eskil, over 75% of respondents observed that management development programmes failed to align fully with corporate needs; focused too much on certification; and did not set in place appropriate mechanisms to embed new knowledge.
Whether the driver for a new management development programme is to explore growth opportunities or to address / anticipate problems, taking something off the shelf isn’t enough.
There is a need for vocational, flexible management development.
Likewise, the cost associated with management development can be high with training running from 3-10 days in duration costing as much as £5,000 / $6,500 per person. For a team of 10, this can be a heavy investment in a short amount of time that may or may not give you the right returns.
Whether you choose to run it in-house or through Eskil’s open workshops, the development programme has some key aspects that help to set it apart from many out there.
