Culture as a priced exposure.

Where patterns of behaviour make conduct, safety, resilience and reputational risks more likely or more costly.

Here, risk means reading culture and behaviour as exposure you can see, price and act on. Intelligence, Audit and Intervention then show how that exposure is seen, tested and addressed.

This work looks at how boards gain earlier, clearer sightlines before risks crystallise. It brings together instruments that let culture show up inside risk, audit and compliance work, rather than sit alongside it.

Where does culture already sit on your risk map?

For most organisations, culture shows up implicitly in conduct, safety, operational resilience and reputation, but rarely as a named, priced exposure. The Risk section brings those implicit dependencies into view, alongside principal risks and appetite, so Boards can see where behavioural conditions are already amplifying or dampening core risks.

What changes when culture is treated as priced exposure?

Culture stops being an explanatory footnote after an incident and becomes part of how risks are described, sized and challenged in advance. Boards, Risk and Audit Committees can then ask not only “what is our exposure?” but “what cultural conditions are we assuming, and are those assumptions credible in the areas that matter most?”.

Culture Risk Mapping

How cultural conditions amplify or dampen key risks, in a format that sits alongside the risk register. This is where culture risk maps, appetites and core exposures are brought into one view that boards and risk owners can read together.

Early Warning Indicators

Which people, control and narrative signals move first when culture is drifting into risk. It defines the small set of Early Warning Indicators that should reach the Board and committees routinely, not only in moments of stress.

Integration with Compliance

How insights about behaviour are absorbed into risk and audit work to give a clearer view of exposure. It covers integration with Compliance and Audit, so that behavioural insight shapes planning, assessment and assurance rather than sitting in separate reports.

How does this connect to Audit, Intelligence and Intervention?

Intelligence generates the signals and diagnostics; Risk reads them as exposure; Audit tests them in the field; Intervention is where Boards and executives change architecture, stance and governance in response. Boardroom is where these decisions are owned, sequenced and evidenced.

Domain The Connection
Audit Culture Risk Mapping and Early Warning Indicators highlight where assurance is most needed. Audit pages explore how those insights translate into plans, scopes and reporting lines back to the board.
Intelligence Most inputs - diagnostics, culture signals, story patterns - live in the Intelligence column. Those pages describe how information is generated; the Risk pages describe how it is read as exposure.
Intervention When a risk map shows something the board cannot ignore, the response lies in Intervention. Architecture, Culture‑by‑Design and Governance Alignment focus on oversight and design levers rather than programmes.
Boardroom These instruments change questions and decision‑making at the top table. Boardroom pages deal with how risk appetite is applied, how trade‑offs are handled, and how boards evidence oversight.
